Timothy B. Loomer, the former president and CEO of Scantron Corporation, has over 20 years of experience in technological related businesses. As CEO of Scantron, he aligned the organization to foster a systematic approach to product development, product management, and marketing. Mr. Loomer led the company’s progression from delivering legacy based products and services to becoming a leading provider of enterprise-wide software applications for the education industry.
Prior to his role as CEO, Mr. Loomer held various executive positions at Scantron, including President of the Testing and Assessment Division and President of the Commercial Technologies Division. During his tenure at Scantron, Mr. Loomer created and executed strategies for the K-12, postsecondary, and commercial marketplaces.
Before joining Scantron, Mr. Loomer held various sales leadership positions at Automated Data Processing (ADP), a provider of transaction processing and information-based business solutions.
Mr. Loomer earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and his Master’s Degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, where he also earned a Global Management Certification.
Rob Bernstein is Senior Managing Director and Co-Founder of Leeds Equity. Mr. Bernstein has over 14 years of experience investing in private equity transactions in the education, information services and training industries. Prior to co-founding Leeds Equity, Mr. Bernstein spent six years with Lazard Frères & Co., holding various positions within the mergers and acquisitions department in both New York and Chicago.
Mr. Bernstein serves as a director of Campus Management, eInstruction Corporation, and Sagus International, Inc. Mr. Bernstein has previously served as a board member of several other portfolio companies.
Mr. Bernstein graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a B.S. degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance.
From January 1998 until his retirement in May 2001, Rod Everhart served as President of SCT Global Education Solutions. Mr. Everhart and the executive team established the vision and the growth strategies for SCT’s largest division. This was his second affiliation with SCT; from 1985 to 1989, he was Vice President, Finance & Administration, Treasurer, and Chief Financial Officer for SCT. From 1989 to 1995, Mr. Everhart served at LexisNexis (then Mead Data Central, Inc.), first as Vice President, Financial Resources & Administration, and then as President beginning in 1992.
Following LexisNexis’ divestiture to Reed-Elsevier plc, he joined Bellcore (Bell Communications Research, Inc., now Telcordia Technologies) as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He also directed the company’s corporate communications and human resources. Prior to 1985, Mr. Everhart had a 19-year career in financial management with General Electric Company. He holds a BS in Management from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and is a graduate of General Electric’s Financial Management Program and other advanced courses.
Thomas J. Fitzpatrick is the former CEO of SLM Corporation, commonly known as Salle Mae, the nation’s leading provider of saving- and paying-for-college programs. Mr. Fitzpatrick was president and COO of Sallie Mae from 2000 to May 2005.
Previously, Fitzpatrick served as president and CEO of Equity One, Inc. from 1989 to 1998, vice chairman of Consumer Credit Co. from 1988 to 1989, president and COO of Manufacturers Hanover Consumer Services (MHCS) from 1983 to 1988, and CFO of MHCS from 1978 to 1983. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business and a Master of Business Administration degree from LaSalle University and attended the Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.
Atif Gilani joined Leeds Equity in 2000. Mr. Gilani has seven years of experience investing in private equity transactions in the education, training and information services industries. Prior to joining Leeds Equity, Mr. Gilani spent two years as an investment banker in Merrill Lynch’s mergers & acquisitions group in New York.
Mr. Gilani's areas of responsibility at Leeds Equity include directing due diligence, negotiating and financing transactions, and monitoring investments. Mr. Gilani serves as a director of Campus Management, and EduK Group. He was also actively involved in the sale of Datamark, Inc. to eCollege.com.
Mr. Gilani is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Jerome Fisher Management & Technology Program, earning a B.S. degree from the Wharton School in Economics with a concentration in Finance & Accounting and a B.AS degree from the School of Engineering & Applied Science in Computer Science Engineering.
Brad Whitman joined Leeds Equity in 2005. Mr. Whitman has over eight years of private equity and investment banking experience across a variety of industry sectors. Prior to joining Leeds Equity, Mr. Whitman spent five years with the Carlyle Group where he was responsible for buyout and growth equity investments in the education, security, logistics and telecommunications sectors. Prior to joining Carlyle, Mr. Whitman was an investment banker for two years in Merrill Lynch’s mergers & acquisitions group in New York.
Mr. Whitman's areas of responsibility at Leeds Equity include sourcing new opportunities, conducting due diligence, negotiating and financing transactions, and monitoring investments. Mr. Whitman serves on the boards of Campus Management and EduK Group. Mr. Whitman was also involved in the acquisition of Education Management Corporation.
Mr. Whitman graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University with a B.A. degree in Economics.
