Grameen Foundation was established by a group of friends who were inspired by the work of Grameen Bank and founding board member, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, who innovated the concept of microfinance, which helps people in poverty access loans to start and grow small businesses. The foundation’s president Alex Counts began his career in microfinance by working and training under Dr.Yunus in Bangladesh.
