Campus Management Launches Commercial Support for Moodle

Top-ranked student information systems leader integrates with most widely used open-source course management system

(Boca Raton, FL - October 11, 2007) – Campus Management Corp. today announced the launch of CampusLearning, a new solutions suite for academic delivery, including commercial support for Moodle’s open-source learning management software. CampusLearning is a key component of Campus Management's One Campus Ecosystem – the industry’s first unified platform for administrative and academic computing.

During the summer of 2007, Campus Management undertook a beta program to integrate Moodle with the company’s student information services system and portal system. The participating institutions then used the unified academic and administrative systems to successfully deliver courses to their student populations.

The company’s CampusLearning offering completes a full line of services including hosting, strategic consulting and learning management system platform conversion, training, and 24/7 helpdesk support.

“The platform has made the registration process a thousand times easier for us administratively. For the first time since the inception of our distance education program, we have been able to spend more time on student contact than on managing the LMS system.  The teachers have reported that the software cuts their work time in half. The students also feel like they can better control their learning environment.” Cathy Snoddy, Ph.D., Application Director at Huntington Junior College

“The integration between CampusVue and Moodle allows for administration and student services representatives to be focused on meeting students’ needs instead of manual transactions,” according to Ms. Snoddy. “CampusLearning allows us to increase the number of students we reach through our distance education initiative without reducing the effectiveness of our student services.”

“Integration between Moodle and CampusVue enhances the student experience while creating more value in both the academic and administrative information systems,” observes Bryan Krusniak, Assistant Vice President at A.T. Still University. The Missouri-based health sciences institution with multiple campuses in two states has been eyeing open-source alternatives for years. “Commercial integration and support for Moodle by a student systems provider paves the way. We can utilize open-source, together with the student system, and create a more unified student experience.”

Uniting administration, academic delivery and learning outcomes management
Campus Management’s integration of Moodle with its CampusVue student system enables real-time integration and synchronization between the two data systems. In addition to courses, rosters, drop/adds, announcements and institutional calendar events among many other innovative benefits occur through the integration:

1. Auto-enrollment – Students enroll in courses and data is sent in real-time to the CampusVue student services system, updating student and institutional records without batch-processing or manual re-entry.

2. Attendance recording – The learner’s online activities generate instant posting of attendance or satisfaction of other course objectives, leveraging CampusVue’s built-in attendance and activity tracking.

3. Grade posting – Grades are sent from CampusLearning to CampusVue in real time, making results instantly available via security-rich, personalized portals for the student, faculty and advisor.

4. Announcements & alerts – Announcements generated in either CampusLearning or CammpusPortal can be automatically communicated to individuals or groups, including SMS text messaging via Campus Management’s built-in SMS services.
